Nairn Dunbar

Situated on the shores of the Moray Firth, the Nairn Dunbar golf course, founded in 1899, is a highly rated Scottish links championship course representing a formidable challenge with its gorse and whin lined fairways.

The club enjoys a growing reputation for high quality competition golf. Renowned for its excellent condition and friendly reception to visitors, it was the chosen venue in 1999 for the Northern Open Professional Championship, the Scottish Ladies Amateur Stroke Play and the Scottish Boys Stroke Play. In 2001 the club hosted the Scottish Amateur Stroke Play Championship (qualifying rounds) and in 2002 the Seniors Home Internationals and the Scottish Open Amateur Mixed Tournaments.

The club are to be joint hosts with the Nairn Golf Club to stage the British Seniors Amateur Championship in 2007.

An outstanding new clubhouse was officially opened in May 1998 by Sir Michael Bonallack OBE.

Nairn Dunbar

Although a Championship course in length the shorter hitter of the ball will not suffer the long carries from the tee to reach the fairways synonymous with many courses of this type, making it enjoyable for all standards of players.

In general, accuracy is the main key. There is no room for 'bailing out' for the best part of the round, as you plot your way through the gorse lined tight lie fairways. This feature of the course provides the marvellous feeling of solitude as you can play many holes before you encounter other groups of Golfers.

After your round, you will feel fulfilled as a Golfer having had every aspect of you game 'put to the test' and most probably had to use every club in your bag.
